Many people around the world instantly envisage New York when they hear about the United States, but New York City, fondly known as NYC, has its own story and character. The city is a cultural and financial hub, and its theatres and art galleries influence worldwide trends. The 9/11 terrorist attacks shook New Yorkers, but did not break their remarkable spirit, or their ability to keep their city one of the most vibrant and diverse places on Earth.
The world’s great cities are more than just interesting places to visit. They are also centres of business, government and culture. While all big cities face similar challenges in providing services for their inhabitants, it is each city’s unique features that we all long to explore if we are ever lucky enough to travel there.
